# Vault lifecycle overview

> How vaults are created, traded, and tracked.

A vault bundles a strategy, execution, and reporting into a single on-chain vehicle.

**Lifecycle:**

1. **Creation** — a vault is deployed with a defined strategy and parameters.
2. **Deposits** — users deposit assets and receive vault shares.
3. **Trading** — the vault executes the strategy over time.
4. **Performance tracking** — users can view returns, risk, and activity.
5. **Withdrawals** — users redeem shares for underlying assets.
